Grading shouldn't be an "art".

Some people will state that comic book grading is an "art". We disagree. "Art" is an opinion - not necessarily based upon fact. Our grading methods are based upon factual and measurable observations.

CGC has developed a proprietary comic book grading system with over 550 separate grading characteristics, covering over 20 grading categories.

Our system ensures that the comics we grade truly represent the grade that is assigned to them - and not just an opinion.

When your shipment of comics arrive at our office, the contents are compared and verified against your online submission. Once they have been graded, they are placed in a Mylar® comic book bag and then encapsulated in our acid-free encapsulation clamshell.

CGC uses the industry standard .5 to 10.0 grading scale, and we only verify and grade non-restored comics. Comics that arrive with restoration will be returned to the sender as ungraded, and no grading fee will be charged (shipping fees apply).
